Tell us why you became a teacher

Being raised by my mother who was a teacher, I was influenced and inspired by her to do the same. I wanted to provide an environment for each of my students where they are loved at school, while learning about real world situations and experiences to prepare them for life and to continue their learning. I also have a huge passion for helping those students with accommodations because I was once that student who had dyslexia. I wanted everyone to feel loved, educated and important

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My first year as a teacher, I got introduced to a student who has dyslexia and needed some extra help. Myself being dyslexic, I really got to help this student and make him feel less alone. We really bonded and I am super thankful I got to help him learn his brain patterns to understand math easier.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would put it into the school I teach at. They are growing out of the spaces they need and they also need a new play ground. We’re a small private Christian school
