Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a music teacher because I had so much love for music that I wanted to spread that love around. I come from a long line of musicians and I actually knew what I wanted to become at a young age. Many children dream of what they want to be when they grow up and I just happened to be one of the very blessed ones that was able to accomplish my dream.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I have been an educator for 31 years now and I have had many memorable teaching moments. I can honestly say that every day is a memorable experience because everyday is different. Sometimes a teaching moment is not one that involves one of the core subjects being taught to a student….it may involve taking the time to listen to what a child may be going through and being that small light at the end of a tunnel. That is sometimes one of the best moments a teacher may get to experience.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would most likely use that money towards doing away of some debt to hopefully one day getting closer to retirement. Teaching is really a matter of the love you feel for all those tiny people that will someday become our future society and not really a matter of income. I know many colleagues will agree.
