Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to make a lasting difference in children’s lives. Growing up in a close-knit family, I learned the value of education and compassion. Teaching allows me to combine my passion for shaping young minds with the joy of helping others. I wanted a career where I could inspire, empower, and guide children to be confident learners and kind individuals ready to succeed.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One memorable moment was during an observation when I struggled to pick the right color, and a student said, “Guys, Ms. Gemeniano is trying her best.” It made me laugh and feel proud, they repeated the encouragement I always give them. Another was when a former student still thanks me for my support, invites me to her plays, and remembers our bond from kindergarten.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use $25,000 to enhance my classroom by purchasing innovative materials, creating a cozy reading corner, and funding field trips to expand my students’ horizons. I’d also attend professional development workshops to bring fresh, impactful teaching ideas to my classroom. This investment would ensure every child in my care has access to meaningful and enriching learning opportunities.
