Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because education transformed my life. I once had no diploma, but with support, I pursued learning and found my passion. I saw firsthand how encouragement and opportunity could change a person’s life, and I wanted to be that guiding force for others. My journey showed me that every student has potential, and I became a teacher to uplift, empower, and help them see that there is a plan and a purpose for their lives. They are not an accident. They deserve to succeed.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable moments was seeing the impact of the Make a Difference Club. Students of all abilities formed friendships, served the community, and grew into compassionate leaders. Watching them break barriers and support one another was incredibly rewarding and heartwarming. It was a powerful reminder that when students are given the chance to connect and lead, they rise to the occasion and create meaningful change.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I would focus on providing my students with the tools and experiences they need to succeed. This includes investing in more diverse learning materials and technology to make lessons more engaging. I’d also support professional development for myself and my colleagues, so we can continue growing and improving. Ultimately, I’d use the money to create opportunities that make a real impact on students, helping them feel seen, heard, and set up for success.
