Tell us why you became a teacher

I always li ed to help others so I knew teaching was a passion. The reason I chose Mathematics was actually because my Algebra 2 teacher was such an inspiration. She taught with such passion and knowledge that all the struggles I had the previous year were all addressed and no longer an issue. She showed me the difference a great teacher can do for a student. That’s when I knew I would live to be that teacher to a future student of mine.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

There was a year that a rumor had started that I might be leaving the school and maybe teaching in general. I had several students come and tell me that they really did it want this to happen and that they really loved me as their teacher. I was not leaving at all but somehow my name was thrown in but thanks to that I was able to get some feedback from even the shyest students. Knowing that I made an impact meant so much.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would love tables for my classroom instead of desks. If I could get around 15 tables and 30 chairs it would be a blessing and this money could get me there!
