Tell us why you became a teacher

I love being an educator because every day offers a new opportunity to shape minds and inspire growth. Seeing a student’s face light up when they understand something for the first time is priceless. The relationships I build with my students and the trust they place in me fuels my passion. Being part of their journey—guiding, challenging, and celebrating their successes—makes teaching more than a job; it’s a calling. The moments of discovery and connection are what keep me going.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable moments was with a student who initially struggled, believing they weren't "good enough" in Maths. We spent time building a relationship, discussing their strengths and challenges. Through consistent encouragement, I saw their mindset shift—from fearing failure to embracing growth. In one lesson, they tackled a difficult problem on their own, proudly exclaiming, “I can do this!” Watching them transform into a confident, lifelong learner was an unforgettable reward.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use the $25,000 to enhance my professional development, ensuring I stay at the forefront of effective teaching practices. I’d invest in classroom resources that cater to diverse learning needs, empowering all students to thrive. A portion would go toward supporting my school community—providing scholarships, supplies, and resources for those facing limitations. Finally, I’d donate to local initiatives that address educational inequalities, ensuring every student has equal opportunities.
