Tell us why you became a teacher

My grandma taught in a one room school house and my grandpa sat on the special Olympics board for years. I was destined. I’ve always been drawn to the learning process and I am a lifelong learner of behavior, good psychology, and helping families navigate unfamiliar roads of disabilities at the elementary level. After 20 years, things become very clear and priorities are easy to put in order! Kids deserve the best and I am dedicated to providing what I can!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Daily, I get to have “lightbulb” moments with kids who wan to understand themselves better and how learning works! I get to love them through their hard, emotional moments and remind them they are human. A very impactful moment to me was when a 5th grader who has Autism, finally gave me a hug after keeping his distance for 4 years. Personal touch was not something he liked. I knew then that connection really mattered.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Help my own children through college! Education is so important and I want to help them with theirs and their path!
