Learn MoreI attended 11 different schools across the world, experiencing diverse teaching styles and cultures while finding comfort in school routines. Though I wanted to teach early on, I was discouraged from "just being a teacher". Starting in an international science museum association. I learned innovative techniques and how to connect science to world applications. This journey brought me full circle to the classroom, where I apply these lessons to inspire and educate.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceAfter 20 years, it is hard to choose One memorable teaching moment, but early in my career a student accidentally broke an ammonite fossil I brought in. To ease her embarrassment. I handed her a similar one – – which she also dropped! We laughed and I reassured her. 15 years later she messaged me saying as a mother. Now, she often thinks of that moment and strives to use humor and patience with her own child. Who knew the real lesson that day wasn't fossils but compassion.
What would you do with the $25,000?I'd invest a portion in my retirement to secure long-term stability, during peace of mind for the future. Then I'd use some to celebrate life-- after years of budgeting on a tight teacher salary, it's time to treat my husband me to something special, like a getaway, a fancy dinner, or more memorable experience. This balance honors both practical needs and the joy we've earned.
