Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I've always known deep down that it was my calling. Throughout my life, I've had the opportunity to work with children in various settings, including babysitting, daycare, and prep classes. In each of these roles, I've loved witnessing the growth and development of the kids I worked with. Watching them learn, overcome challenges, and gain new skills is truly a fascinating and rewarding experience. It’s this constant evolution and the impact I can have on their journey.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching moment was helping a student with anxiety who had struggled to eat in the lunchroom and with social interaction. For months, I sat with her during lunch, gradually stepping back to encourage independence. With reassurance and support from her mother, she eventually overcame the fear. Now, she eats every day without hesitation. Watching her break through that barrier was truly rewarding. It was one of the first big things I helped a student with as a first year teacher.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I had $25,000, I would split it between a few priorities. First, I’d invest a portion for long-term financial growth and put some toward my house payment to ease that burden. As a first-year teacher, I’d also use a significant amount to invest in my classroom, ensuring I have the resources needed to create a positive learning environment for my students. This support would not only help me personally, but also set me up for success in my teaching career.
