Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because as a former student myself I remember attending school carrying my personal problems from home with me to school and having teachers who loved me and cared for me. I wanted to carry this forward and help young people who struggled like me.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience occurred during 2021-22 school year. It was during the pandemic, and we needed to teach in a hybrid environment. Half my students learned digitally and half came to class. I was able to still form healthy relationships with my students, and they did well and graduated.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would pay off my student loans and any other debt I've obtained, and I would use it buy supplies for my students. I would also use it on my grandkids and to fix my house that is starting to fall apart.
