Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher simply because I coke from a family of teachers! I’m the youngest guest of 6 children in my family and we are all educators! I have 4 sisters who are teachers and 1 became an administrator. The love from being in the classroom came from my mother. I would help her set up her classroom since I was a kid. Now that I am a teacher I look forward to a new class every year. I see so much progress from beginning to end of year whether I have taught 4th grade to prekindergarten!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I love when previous students who are older approach me and tell me they remember me as their teacher! I do remember most students and their class that year! Recently a student who graduated high school last year came to visit me and told me he struggled in school and pulled through. He remembered I always told them to not quit and try everyday. I was so proud of him he was graduating and told him he could do anything in this life.

What would you do with the $25,000?

That is alot of money for one teacher! We do need resources daily for our students. I would give all money to resources our students will need and help them in the classroom. Resources like computer programs who will help students read, backpacks and supplies for all students, funding for class trips that will be educational for all grade levels , I would share money to my school and not just for myself.
