Everyday I get to make a difference in a child’s life. My students are very diversified and seeing them smile is priceless!

Tell us why you became a teacher

When my own children were young and attending school, I noticed too many teachers that should have chosen another profession. I wanted to make a difference for all children and create an environment that was loving, caring in a classroom . When a child feels safe they want to learn and become lifelong learners.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I feel every year is memorable in teaching my students. No one child is the same. I have had children from foster homes that need additional attention to help them feel they belong to the classroom community. I have also had children with learning disabilities that were not diagnosed until I addressed tasks they were having problems finishing. Knowing I was there to make a difference in their lives makes every day memorable for me.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would purchase additional supplies for my students for my classroom with the $25,000. I just started back in school to work toward my masters degree. The money would help me finish school to help more children.
