Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher for many reasons. First and foremost, I love kids of all ages. They are creative and honest and are sponges for knowledge. As an avid reader, I wanted to share my love of the English language with all students. As a shy kid who grew up with an alcoholic parent, I thought I might be a role model to some of the students. Honestly, it was just something I always knew I wanted to do.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I have so many memorable moments, but I think my fondest memories come well after I have been their teacher and these former students tell me they remember something I taught them, or because of my discussion of suicide after reading Romeo and Juliet that they chose to wait 10 minutes, a day, a week. Because of that discussion, they are still here today. I made a difference.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would pay off some debt, finish upgrading my house, and continue to travel.
