I never had any brown or Muslim teachers growing up, and in era of increased Islamophobia I felt like it was important to be an openly Muslim woman in a room full of our future leaders.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceThe students all randomly deciding to draw me at the end of the school year. They all did different versions of me in their own style. That was an indication, to me, of the strong rapport and classroom community we had built together
