Tell us why you became a teacher

I remember being in first grade, and my teacher asked me if I would please be a helper to a classmate named Brandy Stuhmiller. I felt so special, and I truly loved helping him with math and reading. I helped him all the way through that year. It was that year in first grade that I decided I wanted to be a teacher. It’s something that I always wanted to be!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching moment was When my regular lesson veered off track a little bit. For some reason, trials came up in the middle of the lesson. A discussion began, and I ended up stopping the lesson and talking about kindness. One beautiful and brave student opened up and shared that they felt loved and safe in my classroom. This boy actually ended up getting emotional and shed a few tears. There were several of my students that ended up also shedding tears of compassion and love.

What would you do with the $25,000?

My family is the most important thing in my life. I would take my entire family on a beautiful family vacation. It would be the most wonderful experience to be able to have my parents, my children, and my grandchildren altogether, and treat them too a beautiful memory making vacation.
