Tell us why you became a teacher

I wanted a career that touched lives, made a difference for myself and others, and would provide long-term opportunities and stability for my future.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

It was in my first year teaching. I taught science and social studies to 7th graders. To end our largest unit in social studies, Ancient Greece & Rome, the students had to choose a character (person, class, creature, mythological being, etc.) to portray in our class' living museum. It was life changing to see these inner city kids get so excited to research, learn about, get dressed as and then teach others about something so vastly different from their lives.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would donate a portion first. Then, I would use it to buy my own home in order to secure my retirement. I would also pay off debt in order to better balance my budget from my salary.
