I have always wanted to be a teacher from my earliest memories of playing school with my siblings. I went back to school to get my degree in education as a young mom in rural Idaho. After accepting a position as a Kinder teacher in Rural Northern Nevada I found my passion for early childhood. Years later after getting my NBCT in early childhood I found another passion for computer science in education. I have since combined my love of CS and early edu to promote CS/robotics in the classroom.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable teaching experience is combining my love of Computer Science with my Project Base Learning objectives. I love to see the students create, code and combine this in a thematic unit that promote learning with the CCS. I had a teacher mentor observe my class and talk about how she wanted to use this in her teaching practices. I knew then that I could touch more lives with this knowledge of I became a teacher mentor. Since then I have helped to promote this school wide K-8.
What would you do with the $25,000?Honestly, I would use it to help in my future retirement. I've been so focused on helping my school, students and investing in my continuing education that I've neglected my retirement plans. Although I still have 15 plus years as a teacher I hope to secure my retirement with investing in a retirement home for me and my husband.
