Tell us why you became a teacher

As a veteran teacher with a passion for STEM and STEAM, my journey into education began with a deep-seated curiosity about the world around me. I loved how science and math explained natural phenomena and how art and design could bring those concepts to life. I wanted to share that excitement with students, helping them see the connections between disciplines and encouraging them to think critically and creatively. Teaching allows me to inspire young minds.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable experiences was attending the STEM fair at Region 11 with my girls in STEM. The excitement was palpable as they set up their projects, showcasing their hard work and creativity. Watching them present their ideas with confidence and enthusiasm filled me with pride. They engaged with judges and other participants, sharing their passion for science and technology. The camaraderie among the girls was inspiring, as they cheered each other on and celebrated each other.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I had $25,000 to invest in my family and education for STEM and STEAM opportunities for my students. First, I would allocate funds for hands-on materials and equipment, such as robotics kits, coding software, and science lab supplies, to foster engaging learning experiences. Next, I would organize workshops and guest speaker events featuring professionals in STEM fields to inspire and connect students with real-world applications. Lastly, I would establish a scholarship fund.
