Tell us why you became a teacher

Since being a young girl, I always admired my teachers in school. I wanted to become a teacher to make a difference in young childrens' lives. If I can connect with students and help build their confidence in themselves and in learning to read, nothing would make me happier.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My memorable teaching experience was when I had a 1st grader who couldn't tell me any letters or sounds. With extra intervention, I worked with this student to know all letters and sounds and begin to read within a few weeks. His confidence soared! It was the greatest experience!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I could use this money to help supply and organize an inviting reading room for the students I work with in my elementary building. I could supply it with comfortable places to read and fill it with books that will engage my young readers.
