Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because of my third and fifth grade teachers. They were active role models in my life and provided me so much love and support. I’ve always wanted to be like them and be that kind of person for kids who don’t have one.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience has been in a Title One school when I was doing student teaching. I worked with so many students who had unfortunate home situations but those kids still showed up to school. They looked forward to being around their friends and teachers. Even though these kids didn’t have much at home, they still offered up anything they had to make me smile. I want to give back to them and make them feel the joy I do when I spend everyday with them.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use the $25,000 to invest in my students’ education. Whether it be more books for our class library, supplies for the classroom, or an exciting field trip. I feel the money would be best used to honor the people that make me an educator.
