Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I am passionate about setting a foundation with youth that empowers them to create a great life for themselves. Students' success as adults is critically linked to their experiences as children. I knew that I could provide a safe space, engage them in meaningful, holistic learning, and hopefully make an impact on their future.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I felt a very strong connection to my class during my first year teaching. I was devastated when they moved up to middle school. Working at a TK-12 school, I was hopeful I would still get to watch many of them grow up. The following year on my birthday, a group of students from that class came to visit my classroom. They had a card that had been signed by every student from that first class that still went to the school. I've gotten one every year since.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Travel the world. I made it to all 50 states and 30 countries! My next goal is all 7 continents.
