Learn MoreBeing a teacher is something I always knew I wanted to do. When I began my 8th grade year I was in a Family and Consumer Sciences class and joined FHA (now FCCLA) in that moment I knew exactly what I would be teaching. Teaching is something that just came naturally to me and helping others is also something I enjoy doing. Teaching FCS and being an FCCLA advisor lets me do both of those things. I love working with kids and seeing them achieve what they don’t believe they can.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceIn 23 years of teaching, there are so many moments that are memorable. From the funny stories like the kid asking where I keep the elbow grease to the special needs student making green eggs and ham and sewing a football pillow and how proud the student was. Perhaps though the most memorable is being able to watch my daughter achieve her goals and dreams and begin her pursuit of her Early Childhood Education degree.
What would you do with the $25,000?There are so many things that $25,000 would be able to do for my family. Buying a new car, remodeling neglected areas of our home or helping pay for my daughter’s college education. Let’s be honest I will also spend some on my classroom because that’s just what I do.
