As a little girl I would play teacher with my friends, my little cousins and even my stuffed animals. I would read aloud, write on my chalkboard and make my own little worksheets! In high school I decided I was going to be a math professor but college steered me toward I/O psychology where I would get a MS degree. After five years of working in Human Resources and having two sweet children of my own, I went back to school for a second masters in teaching where I found my happily ever after.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI taught three siblings, each with unique needs—the oldest needed clothing and support, the middle craved attention, and the youngest, a loud girl, masked her pain with defiance. One unsuspecting day, we were hit with a two-hour lockdown, I had one of them in my class. Fear gripped us as updates revealed a murderer on the loose nearby. Sirens wailed, and students huddled in silence, eyes wide with fear. My heart sank when I learned their mother was one of the victims, killed by her boyfriend.
What would you do with the $25,000?My oldest son is going to college this fall. His dream is to attend the university of Kentucky and this would help me get him there.
