Tell us why you became a teacher

I grew up watching my mom teach special education for 16 years, and the profound impact she had on her students inspired me. I saw the trust she built, the growth her students experienced, and the way they thrived under her care. I wanted to do the same—build strong relationships and help all students realize their potential. Teaching both general education, ESL, and students with disabilities, I get to support diverse learners in overcoming challenges and succeeding.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

It's hard to pick just one, but one of my most memorable moments came when a student hand made me a bracelet and wrote a note thanking me for my support. They shared how much they had grown in my class, especially with subjects that aren’t always easy, like geometry. Whether I’m teaching general education or working with ESL students and those with disabilities, seeing a student take pride in their progress—however big or small—makes all the hard work and challenges worth it.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I’d start by paying off my student loans, lifting the financial burden of being an educator. Then, I’d invest in my classroom—acquiring diverse books, technology, and materials to enhance learning for every student. Believing in the power of giving back, I’d donate part to charities supporting education for underserved communities. Finally, I’d invest in my growth through workshops and courses to continuously elevate my ability to inspire and support my students.
