Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I struggled with learning throughout my school years. It took time to recognize that I had unique learning needs and required a personalized approach. My difficulties with certain concepts impacted my self-esteem and mindset toward learning and goal-setting. Understanding how I learn has fueled my passion for helping students with special needs, as I want to guide them toward success in ways that resonate with their individual strengths and challenges.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One memorable experience was helping a student overcome a significant learning challenge that impacted her academic progress, behavior, and family. By tailoring instructional supports to her interests and learning needs, she made remarkable progress both in and outside the classroom. Witnessing the positive change I helped foster in her life was incredibly rewarding, and knowing the lasting impact I had on her academic and personal growth will always be a source of pride for me.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I would contribute a portion back to my school to support instructional resources and fund impactful school trips that enrich students' learning experiences. I would also invest in my professional growth by enrolling in college-level courses to deepen my teaching skills and develop as a school leader, ultimately benefiting both my students and the broader school community.
