Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because of the incredible impact my own teachers had on me during a time when I struggled as a student. Learning didn’t come easily, and I often felt behind my peers. Yet, my teachers saw potential in me that I couldn’t see in myself. They didn’t just teach—they inspired, supported, and believed in me. Their unwavering support showed me how powerful a teacher’s role can be, and I knew that one day, I wanted to do the same for others.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was when a student felt comfortable confiding in me, not just as a teacher but as a friend. They shared personal struggles and told me they felt safe and supported in my classroom. That moment reminded me how important it is to build trust and create a space where students feel valued beyond academics. Knowing I could be a source of comfort and encouragement was incredibly meaningful and reinforced why I chose to teach.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I received $25,000, I’d use it to improve my life and help others. I’m currently struggling with debt, so I’d pay some off to ease that burden. I’d also invest in my classroom library to provide more books for my students. Lastly, I’d donate to a dog sanctuary, a cause close to my heart, as I hope to open one someday. This money would have a huge impact, helping me personally and allowing me to give back to my students and the animals I care about.
