I became a teacher because of my grandmother. She instilled in me a love for learning and helping others. She and all 13 of her sisters were all teachers, so I guess it is in my blood. I love to learn and help encourage others to reach their full potential.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceTeaching middle school students how to read is incredibly rewarding. My most memorable experience was being invited to a teacher appreciation breakfast by a former student who was at risk, and was a reluctant reader. He told me, in his invitation to the breakfast, that I am the reason he decided to pick up an entire chapter book and read for the first time in middle school!
What would you do with the $25,000?I would pay off my graduate school student loans that have allowed me to advance my career as an educator.
