I became a teacher to make a difference in my community. As a minority and a female, I see the need to make sure every girl out there knows they can accomplish anything. With hard work and determination, anything is possible.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceA most memorable experience is having a sixth grader come back to my classroom and thank me for always believing in them. He said they every time they were working on a difficult math concept, I’d encouraged them by saying, “you know you’re learning high school math”. He said, that it was because of those words of encouragement that math became his favorite subject.
What would you do with the $25,000?Plan a field trip with my students and have a school wide assembly.
