Tell us why you became a teacher

As a second grader at a new school, I was inspired by my teacher Ms. Ramirez. She was creative, she loved science, and most importantly, she taught us Spanish for fun! Her love of all of these things fostered my love of language and desire to continue learning and pursue a career as a bilingual educator!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience is hard to choose! I have taught lessons through an earthquake in the east bay, lockdowns in San Bernardino, awaiting evacuation orders for a local flood and fire in Fallbrook. I have experience working as a site intervention and ELD teacher, as well as teaching 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and now 6th grade! The sum of all of these experiences is one brimming with tears of joy and pride, and the beautiful reminder that the best lessons are sometimes the unexpected!

What would you do with the $25,000?

With the $25,000 I would invest in more furniture for my growing library in my classroom, for flexible seating for my students, nicer art materials for them to utilize in their projects, and to pay off the debts of money already spent growing this second home!
