Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to empower students with the skills and confidence to thrive beyond the classroom. I wanted to create a learning space where curiosity is nurtured, challenges are embraced, and students see failure as a step toward success. Teaching allows me to inspire the next generation of innovators, problem-solvers, and lifelong learners. Seeing students light up when they master a concept or find their passion makes every moment worthwhile.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

During COVID, I witnessed incredible perseverance from students, families, and fellow educators. Despite the fear and frustration of online learning, my students adapted, problem-solved, and supported one another. Seeing their resilience, creativity, and love for learning—even in the toughest times—was a powerful reminder of why I teach. It reinforced my belief that education isn’t just about knowledge; it’s about resilience, adaptability, and growth.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would invest in STEM education, a passion that has shaped my teaching and my business. As a co-founder of a women-owned STEM education company, I strive to inspire students to explore STEM careers. With this funding, I would expand hands-on STEM opportunities, provide resources to underrepresented students, and develop engaging programs that prepare them for a future where STEM skills are essential.
