Tell us why you became a teacher

I didn't become a teacher. Teaching just grew from volunteering in the classroom, having my own children, and enjoying working in a school. I love seeing children learn and grow into themselves. Never thought I would be a teacher. However, everyday I get to help my littles learn their alphabet and numbers, but also learn how to be in the world. Then I have my 8th grade and see them become young adults and help them with life skills. Those and thousand of other reason I became a teacher.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I had a spanish speaking student one year and she wasn't making any gains in learning English. The parent also were concern because she didn't speak a lot of spanish. Very broken language not making the right sounds. One day I was watching her on the playground and it dawn on me that she could not hear. She could hear some sounds but not all. We were able to get her hearing aids and she was able to hear the world. ❤️

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would help buy a playground for my school. They one we had, got taken down because it wasn't safe. However, it's been two years and still no playground. Its time for those kids to get a new playground.
