Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I love making an impact on the lives of my students. I love seeing them grow academically, socially, mentally, and emotionally. I also simply love the joy of seeing the smiles on their faces when I teach them. I am extremely passionate about teaching children. I truly love what I do. I am currently in my 11th year of teaching and I wouldn't change it for the world. With this mindset, I find fun ways to make learning fun for my students!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

During Covid, we started teaching on Zoom from home. I was trying to find ways to make literacy a fun experience for my students so they wouldn't solely depend on virtually learning. At first, I was ordering books on Amazon to send to their homes. Books they were able to touch and open. Then I decided to write and publish my own book on my students' reading level. I then provided all 30 students with a book and watched them fall in love with reading! It was amazing to see it come to life.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I will use some of the money to pay towards my education loans. I will also use some of it to invest in student enrichment activities for my students such as science club, book club, drama club, etc. Lastly, I will save the rest. I have Professional Developments that I wish to attend in the future and they can be costly!
