Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I know firsthand how challenging school can be. Growing up, I wasn’t the best student, not because I couldn’t do the work but because the tools and understanding I needed weren’t always recognized or provided. It showed me how easily a child can feel like they’re not enough, simply because they learn differently or need a different approach. My goal is to change that narrative. I want to inspire my students, cheer them on, and show them that they are more than enough!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

During my second year when I had a particularly challenging class, I felt like I wasn’t doing enough for my students. Then, while working on long division, a student who often struggled suddenly referenced an acronym I had taught to help remember the steps. They had never used it before, but in that moment, they were genuinely trying to solve the problem on their own. They didn’t get it right, but that didn’t matter. It reminded me that even on the hardest days, growth is happening!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would put it directly into savings dedicated to building a future family and home. This investment would provide a strong financial foundation, ensuring security and stability as I work towards my long-term goals. It would not only provide immediate security but also lay the groundwork for a future filled with possibilities, stability, and love. It represents an investment in dreams, aspirations, and the life I hope to build.
