Tell us why you became a teacher

The opportunity to connect with students, guide their growth, and witness their "aha" moments is incredibly fulfilling. There’s a unique sense of reward in knowing that I'm helping shape not just their knowledge, but their futures. Also, be the person that students deserve to have show up for them consistently, when they don’t have anyone else.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable moments was when a student, who had attempted suicide, came to me after. After a deep, heartfelt conversation, I provided them with the support they didn’t know they needed in school. Over time, they gradually returned to school, slowly rebuilding their confidence. To see them now thriving, showing up every day with a smile, is a constant reminder of the power of support and the impact a teacher can have. It’s moments like these that make teaching so deeply rewarding.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use part of the $25,000 to enhance my students' learning experience, funding lab activities and resources to spark their curiosity and growth. The rest would go toward helping cover the expenses for my wedding in May 2026, ensuring that special day is a celebration of love and commitment. Balancing both my passion for teaching and personal milestones would make this gift truly meaningful.
