I teach ENL to Middle Schoolers, and I love it because I can become a safe place for kids in a difficult time of life, full of big changes.

I became a teacher to have a direct impact on the next generation. I believe every child has the right to an equal education regardless of their circumstances. As a teacher, I feel I can show students their potential and help them overcome obstacles in their daily lives. This is especially true at the middle school age where students are dealing with a lot of emotions and pressure and can truly benefit from having a trusted adult in the building where they spend most of their time.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable teaching experience has been a culmination of the years spent with the same students. The nature of my job as an ENL teacher is that I get to teach the same students for the whole time they're in middle school. This is especially rewarding with my students who are brand new to the country. I get to work with these students and watch their language develop alongside who they are as people. It is so rewarding to watch them go from timid students to leaders in their classrooms.
What would you do with the $25,000?If I won the $25,000, I would use it to help make ends meet honestly. Teaching is rewarding but it doesn't pay much, and it would be nice to have some help to pay the bills stress free.
