What is your favorite part of being an educator?

My favorite part of being a teacher is helping my students to become better humans and members of society. Not all students are college-bound. I love working with students to discover what they want to do after high school and assisting them in preparing for that path, whatever it may be. I believe that soft skills, such as time management, following directions appropriately, and organization, are just as essential in life as academics.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience.

It's hard to pick just one most memorable experience! My most memorable recent experience is watching a specific student walk across the stage at graduation and get his diploma last May. I worked with this student all four years of his high school career and the gains he made over that time were incredible. The pride I felt was indescribable.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won the $25,000, I would use that money to update and renovate some things in my home. Specifically, I would invest in a new roof, new windows, and finish off the second bathroom in our basement. With three growing boys, we could definitely use another bathroom in our house!
