Learn MoreMy favorite part of being an educator is knowing that I am truly making a difference. By building connections with students, I am not only helping them gain knowledge but also serving as a role model. Teachers who demonstrate character enable students to trust in an adult who will be there for them now and in the future. Recently, I received a call from a former student announcing that she had landed her first teaching job and expressing that I had been a great example to her.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience. One of my most memorable teaching experiences is witnessing a student's 'light bulb' moment. Teaching 2nd grade, I encountered a shy student performing at a kindergarten level. Despite her initial lack of confidence, with new strategies and a strong connection, she began to blossom. Gradually, she started engaging in conversations with her friends, eventually returning to grade level performance.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would use the $25,000 to purchase supplies for my classroom, including creating a safe space area. I would also create a hygiene/essential goods room for my school to provide food and any needed products to all students' needs. Additionally, I would allocate part of the $25,000 to a savings account for my two children, which would be available to them after they graduate from high school, supporting their journey towards college or an industry pathway.
