Learn MoreCelebrating the diversity of my students is a joy of my profession! Having worked in various places in the United States offers me a unique perspective on the communities I teach. I have delivered Professional Development workshops to educators about sociocultural competence, embracing diversity, and amplifying marginalized voices in the classroom. I love being a teacher because I am able to pass on my passion for embracing multiculturalism in a diverse community of collaborative scholars.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience. As a graduate with my Masters Degree in Elementary Education, I went back and thanked Ms. Abdella, my second grade teacher. I have always had a passion for teaching. The most memorable moments of my career are in receiving confirmation that my childhood dream is being brought to fruition. My first years of teaching in Worcester, Massachusetts, my students exceeded the scores of the city and state on the MCAS state test! While working in Guayama, Puerto Rico, I was awarded Maestra del Ano.
What would you do with the $25,000?The $25,000 would humbly go to pursuing my passions and dreams. I am an elementary school teacher in a Dual Language Program of English and Spanish and while painting a mural representing the school, I feel as if I'm an integral part of the community. I would use part of the money to buy my first home in Worcester to be close to family and continue teaching the community I love. Part of the money would go toward obtaining my PHd to discover the best in me so I can share it with others.
