I became a teacher because I wanted to inspire the same love for learning I had as a child. Watching my students grow intellectually and emotionally is incredibly rewarding. I wanted to create a classroom where students feel valued, challenged, and excited to learn. It's not just about teaching the curriculum but helping each child discover their potential and see themselves as capable learners.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was when a shy student, who rarely spoke, gave a whole-class presentation about their favorite book. Seeing their confidence grow and knowing I played a role in that transformation was priceless. It reminded me how important it is to create a supportive space where kids feel comfortable expressing themselves. That moment showed me the true impact of fostering self-belief in young learners.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I were awarded $25,000, I would invest it in classroom resources—things like books, technology, and hands-on learning tools to enhance my students' experience. I'd also use some of it to fund field trips that bring learning to life outside the classroom. Finally, I’d offer professional development opportunities for myself and my colleagues, ensuring we continue to grow as educators and create the best possible learning environment for our students
