I became a teacher because of the many teachers and coaches who made a positive impact on my life. Their influence inspired me to give back to my students and play a role in shaping their future. I chose this path to help further the lives of children across the United States, knowing that education has the power to change lives. Teaching is more than a profession to me—it’s a life-changing journey.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

When a former student, who had graduated 10 years earlier, showed up in the parking lot after school to thank me for being a positive role model in his life. He shared that the inspiration, positivity, and strong work ethic I instilled in my classroom motivated him to turn away from the bad decisions he was making as a high school senior. That turning point changed the course of his life for the better.

What would you do with the $25,000?

First, I would donate a portion to the Susan G. Komen Foundation to support the fight against cancer, a disease that affects countless individuals and families. I would give back to the teachers who have had a profound impact on my life by providing a dinner out or gift card. A portion of the money would go toward my two children’s college funds, ensuring I can support them when the time comes. Finally, I would set aside some for a special family vacation, creating lasting memories.
