Lindsay Holmes

I love teaching because I get to show up every morning not wondering about what I’m going to teach but what impact I leave on students.

Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher all because of my Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Brenda. She was a perfect definition of what a teacher should be, she built those lasting relationships first and then the learning followed. She gave me a loving space. She continued to be a pillar of support all the way up until my end of student teaching. In my Kindergarten classroom now, I strive to be a Mrs. Brenda and provide my students with the same love and support.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

The most memorable experience I’ve had so far was during my first year of teaching. I was in a second grade classroom and I had one special boy who definitely gave me a run for my money. We struggled and grew together over the year and being an influence in his life and seeing the impact I made on him makes me love this job even more.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won the $25,000 dollars I would definitely book mine and my husbands very belated honeymoon and then pour the rest into my classroom and kiddos, trying to give them the best I can.
