Tell us why you became a teacher

I was an Optometrist for 11 years and loved it but felt like it wasn't really fulfilling my overall desires. I was tutoring middle school aged children in math and science and found to really love getting them to understand the material. I also worked at summer camps at my church and did a program with boys, much like Boy scouts and found it very fulfilling and satisfying

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I had been teaching for 14 years when I found myself needing another job because the school I worked at closed. I found a job teaching middle school math at another school. The first year I worked there, student came up to inform me that he hated math and wasn't good at it. Well, fast forward three years later and not only was math his favorite subject, he was doing exceedingly well, acing his Algebra 1 tests.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would probably use it towards a more efficient car as the school I work at is 25 miles away, so I drive 50 miles everyday to and from work.
