I became a teacher because I believe education is the most powerful tool we have to make a positive impact on the world. I'm drawn to the idea of guiding students as they discover their potential, develop critical thinking skills, and become engaged, responsible citizens. I want to be a part of helping them grow not just academically, but as individuals.

I was teaching a combined 7th/8th class and had a student with a 4th grade math level in her IEP. She surpassed expectations. She reached 7th grade level by year's end, ready for more. Witnessing her growth was incredibly rewarding.

My first action would be to address some outstanding debt (student loans from my M.Ed.). This would give me a greater sense of peace and stability. Then, I would use the remaining funds for a summer vacation with my husband. I believe that taking time to relax and renew myself will enable me to return to my teaching responsibilities with renewed energy and focus, ultimately benefiting my students.
