I love teaching because every student is unique. Building relationships and finding creative ways to help students thrive fuels my passion.

I became a teacher because of the profound impact that my IEP has had on my own life. Growing up, I struggled with learning differences that made school a challenging environment. For much of my early education, I felt disconnected and unsure of my place in the classroom. I remember feeling overwhelmed by lessons that didn’t seem to fit my way of learning. The teachers that implemented my IEP changed my view on learning. I wanted to become like those teachers who changed my life!
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable teaching experience was working with an ELL student who, at the start of the year, had limited vocabulary and reading skills in English. By the end of the year, she was confidently having social interactions with her peers and successfully reading grade appropriate texts. Seeing her hard work before my eyes reaffirmed my passion and love for teaching.
What would you do with the $25,000?If I were to win the $25,000 I would use it to fund STEM materials for my classroom. I believe that STEM education is an important tool to help students learn authentically through challenges and develop skills for the real world. I would also use the $25,000 to donate school materials for struggling families. Finally, I would also use the money to continue my education in a PhD program for curriculum and instruction.
