Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because it was a childhood dream of mine. When I was 13, I immigrated from Portugal to the United States and I thought I would never be able to accomplish my dream because I did not speak English. However, with a lot of hard work and dedication I learned the language went to college and now I’m following my childhood dream. I became a teacher so I can make my students’ dreams come true.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experiences are always when I have a student, that just like me does not know how to speak English, leaves my classroom with a knowledge they need to make their dreams come true.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would take this money and pay some of my debt and also help pay for my 4 sons’ college tuition. Which just like me are following their dreams and one is also become a teacher.
