Tell us why you became a teacher

I decided to become a Teacher when I was in Middle School, because I want to make sure that while I am working on the Education System the students know that fun, structured and meaningful learning is all you need in order to achieve success in life. Also, I want to create a safe and enjoyable teaching environment for all the kids who attend my class.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I know English great, but my first language is Spanish and sometimes I don’t know how to express myself properly in Spanish, because I am from Puerto Rico and my students are from others Spanish speaking countries and when they see me a little lost in translation they say Don’t worry Ms. Lopez we can help you. Yes, I love learning from my students and the fact that they want to teach me their language and their culture and the meaning of the words is always meaningful and important for me.

What would you do with the $25,000?

My Dream is to have a Piece of land in the country side of the town in order to make an Animal Sanctuary and create learning experiences and lessons for kids and their families. Interactions with Mother Nature is critical for having a positive and healthy lifestyle. Teaching my community the importance of taking care of animals and our environment will be an exciting opportunity. $25,000 dollars will help me to get started on the project.
