Teaching has always felt like my true calling. As a child, I loved helping others learn, often explaining lessons and homework to my classmates. Even when I was too shy to volunteer in class, my classmates would point to me to lead discussions. In high school, I denied my desire to become a teacher, convincing myself I wanted to be an engineer or architect. But my mom, who shared the same dream, always believed in me. Now, I’m living that dream.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

The most memorable teaching experience for me is when former students reach out to share their achievements, like landing a new job or getting into college. It’s incredibly fulfilling to know that I was part of their journey. These moments show that teaching isn’t just about lessons; it’s about building relationships and making a lasting impact. Seeing my students succeed reminds me of the influence teachers have, and it’s a rewarding feeling to know I played a role in their growth.

What would you do with the $25,000?

My first project would be providing students with clothes, bags, shoes, and classroom necessities. Seeing some wear the same clothes daily or have torn bags and broken shoes really breaks my heart. I’d also invest in creating an inclusive, hands-on learning space where students can explore their creativity. By purchasing books, technology, and supplies for various learning styles, I aim to foster critical thinking and inspire students to reach their full potential beyond the classroom.
